Marie has been training dogs since 1987. Her first competitive dog was a female Border Collie, “Megan” OTCH McCann Megan AG.X Am UD. This wonderful dog’s career combined for over 50 High in Trials. She was the #1 Obedience Dog in Canada in 1998 and #3 in 1996. She has multiple placements at tournaments such as the World Series in Detroit, Michigan and the Hit of Hits competition in Ottawa, Ontario. Megan and Marie also earned an USDAA Masters Agility Dog title and Megan was a member of 3 North American Flyball Association Championship teams. Marie is most proud of Megan’s wonderful attitude in the ring and her 98% pass rate.

Marie is currently showing Megan’s son, “Quinn” OTCH The Mighty Quinn Am. CDX NA NAJ. Quinn was born in 1995 and is nearing retirement. He has placed in the Novice division at the World Series in Detroit, Michigan. Quinn also has his Excellent title in CARO Rally-Obedience with 2 perfect scores along the way. Quinn currently has 2 Am utility legs and 1 NAMBR utility leg. In 2007 the CKC reinstated border collies and Quinn earned his Novice title with high scores and 4 HITs out of 4 trials and then went on to earn his CDX the next weekend earning 4 HITs, 3 weeks later he earned his OTCH in three straight trials.  Quinn will be finishing his Am UD and NAMBR UD along with competing in rally in Canada and the US.

Marie is also showing her Golden Retriever, “Presto” GMOTCH Windrows Do U Believe in Magic Ag.I WC Am. CD WC NR. Presto is a very animated dog, with lots of presence and attitude in the ring. He has achieved many High in Trials in both Canada and the US and won the prestigious HIT of HIT competition in Ottawa, Ontario in 2004. He was the #1 Obedience Dog in Canada in 2005. Presto also has his Excellent title in CARO Rally-Obedience with 4 perfect scores along the way. Presto is retired from obedience, but still comes out from time to time and is looking to complete his Am. UD and compete in rally in Canada and the US.

Marie’s newest dog is a Norwegian Buhund, “Gali” Jerancourt’s Drops O’ Jupiter CD NJWW.  Gali is showing quite a lot of promise.  His Novice career included some high scores and 1 HIT with a score of 199.  He is currently preparing for Open and Utility and spending time completing his Rally Excellent title in the US and beginning to show in rally in Canada.

Marie is well known for her problem solving skills, getting to the root of the problem while always maintaining the dogs “learning state of mind”. Her consideration for the dog’s view of the exercise is paramount above all else at her training school, Companion Dog Training located in Cambridge, Ontario. Her student’s dogs perform happily, accurately and with a high pass rate in all levels of competition. Marie focuses on strong foundation and relationship skills by using games and a wide variety of training exercises. Her ability to break the exercise down into pieces and put it back together to strengthen the dog’s understanding of the skill is what has brought her so much success over the years. Marie’s skill of being able to explain the “how to” is evident in her classes, seminars and articles she writes for Dog Sport and Canine Review magazines.

In 2003 Marie published her “Ring Ready” series of books. These books focus on helping your dog better understand and perform each skill in the sport of obedience.   In 2006 Marie published her new book “Rally On”.

Marie became a certified Rally Obedience judge in 2003 and has been competing, judging and presenting seminars based on the Canadian Association of Rally Obedience rules since 2004.
